HAIR EXTENSIONS

Extensions add length and volume, but only when the color, texture, and attachment method match your own hair. Kimberly Messing Hair Design is a Hot Heads Certified salon, and every extension service starts with a consultation to find the method that fits your hair and your routine.

Kim Messing, our owner, is Hot Heads Certified, a hand-tied extension method known for lying flat against the scalp and moving naturally with your own hair as it grows. Depending on your goals, we also work in tape-ins and keratin bonds, each with a different maintenance schedule, a different feel, and a different price point, so the right choice really does come down to your own hair and how you live in it day to day.

Transform Your Look with Volume, Length, and Confidence

Whether you dream of longer locks, fuller volume, or a bold new style, our professional hair extension service delivers flawless results tailored to you. At our salon, hair extensions aren’t just an add-on—they’re a transformation. Using only premium-quality hair and expert techniques, we blend each strand seamlessly with your natural hair to create a stunning, undetectable finish.

From subtle volume boosts to dramatic length changes, we offer a range of extension types—including tape-ins, keratin bonds, hand-tied wefts, and clip-ins—customized to match your texture, color, and lifestyle needs. Every installation begins with a thorough consultation to ensure the perfect fit, color match, and overall look that complements your hair goals.

Hair Extension FAQs

What extension method is right for me?

It depends on your hair density, how you like to style it, and how much maintenance you want. Hand-tied wefts (like Hot Heads) sit flat and reposition as you move up in size; tape-ins are quick to install; keratin bonds hold in individual strands for a more customized placement. We walk through all three at your consultation.

How long do extensions last?

The hair itself, cared for properly, can be reused for a year or more. How long a single install lasts before it needs to be moved up depends on the method: hand-tied wefts typically need repositioning every 6 to 8 weeks as your natural hair grows.

Will extensions damage my natural hair?

Properly installed and maintained extensions should not damage healthy hair. The risk comes from incorrect placement, going too long between maintenance appointments, or a method that doesn't suit your hair's current condition, which is exactly what the consultation is for.

How do you match the color to my hair?

Extensions are color-matched in person against your natural hair, including any highlights or balayage, before they're ordered or installed, so the blend is seamless rather than a guess from a color chart.

How long does an extension appointment take?

A first-time install is the longest appointment, since it includes the consultation, color matching, and placement. Maintenance visits to move the wefts up are shorter. We'll give you a specific time estimate once we know which method you're using.

Can I still color my hair once I have extensions in?

Yes, your natural hair can still be colored around the extensions. We coordinate the color and extension schedule together, usually coloring first, so the two services work with each other rather than against each other and the blend stays seamless.
